Aunt Maria's Classic Cheeselovers Meatloaf

Ingredients

  • 3 lbs Ground Beef
  • 1 1/2 cups Garlic & Onion Croutons
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1/3 8 oz Block of Monterrey Jack & Colby cheese Or your own favorite cheese and be sure to freeze your cheese for at least 24 hours

Other seasonings: garlic powder, seasoned salt, pepper and minced dried onions

Glaze

  • 1 1/4 cup Dark Brown Sugar
  • 3/4 cup Heinz Ketchup
  • 2 dashes Worcestershire Sauce

Instructions

  • Break meat apart in 9x13 baking pan
  • Season meat with all seasonings above on both sides
  • Mix Egg and add both Egg and Croutons to the meat, mixing all together well
  • Bake 60 minutes covered at 375°
  • Remove from oven and drain off excess drippings
  • Return to oven and bake covered another 10 minutes at 375°
  • Drain drippings off again
  • Remove from oven and add the Glaze
  • Return to oven and bake loosely covered for another 10 minutes

Notes

If you use fresh onions, sauté first and then add as per instructions.  Also, if you use turkey or extra lean ground meat you need to add about a half cup of cooking oil to your meatloaf
